The Ka Moku o Keawe Makahiki event commemorates its 10th year of friendly competition Saturday at Waimea Park.

It is an all-day event beginning at 7 a.m., celebrating Hawaiian culture through games of strength and skill. Everyone is invited to test his or her wit and strength and compete in traditonal Hawaiian games such as hukihuki (team tug-of-war), hakamoa (chicken fight) and konane (checkers).

The games are organized so participants of all ages can compete with athletes in their age group with the winner being awarded a certificate of excellence.

In addition to the games the Ka Moku o Keawe Makahiki event celebrates the season of makahiki that represents a time of peace, rejuvenation and gratitude.
